Contract law is at the heart of the day-to-day work of solicitors. Whether you are involved in the negotiation and drafting of contracts, or advising in relation to disputes, you need to be aware of key recent developments.
Our Contract Law Update provides a comprehensive review of all important developments in the law of contract over the last year. The presenters, Laura Macgregor and Lorna Richardson are experts in their field and combine academic depth with practical insights. Don't just take our word for it, read feedback from last year's seminar below.
The seminar covers:
• All major decisions in Scotland in 2023/24, in both the sheriff court and Court of Session;
• Significant cases from England in 2023/24 having or likely to have an impact on Scots law;
• Important statutory developments; and
• Upcoming legal reforms to be aware of.
All aspects of the law of contract are considered, including formation, interpretation, implication of terms, unfair terms and remedies for breach of contract. Developments are placed in context, so that trends or new directions in the law can be identified.
In addition to the two hour session and one hour Q&A, you will also receive a substantial set of materials providing thorough notes on all cases and statutory developments – an indispensable update to your contract law resources.
Laura Macgregor, Chair of Scots Law, University of Edinburgh.
Lorna Richardson is Senior Lecturer in Commercial Law, University of Edinburgh.
Delegates also have the opportunity to email questions related to the seminar and attend a supplementary Q&A session where those questions will be discussed. The Q&A will take place via Zoom on Monday 4 November from 1-2pm.
